NORTH TAMA COUNTY COMMUNITY SCHOOL

From preschool through high school graduation, students at North Tama County Community Schools will receive a quality education that prepares them for an ever-changing future. With full community support, not only do our students excel in academic competitions, but they've broken records in various sports as well. Our young men and women are also involved in other character-building activities including, FCCLA, Chorus, National Honor Society, plays, musicals, FFA, Talented and Gifted program, student government and so much more.

Our North Tama PK—12 school district strives to empower every student to become a lifelong learner who is a productive, responsible, and engaged citizen of our society.  We envision a school where all students achieve a degree of academic success, which will equip them to adapt to our rapidly changing society.

PIED PIPER PRESCHOOL & CHILDCARE

In 1972, our community recognized a need for a preschool. At the urging of local residents, a teacher specializing in early childhood development and special education started Pied Piper Preschool in her home. Ten years later, a board of eight directors was elected and the school was reorganized as a nonprofit corporation.

Starting in the 1980s, as more families saw both parents working, the need for extended early childhood care was needed. With the assistance of the Traer Development Corporation, a larger permanent building was sought. In 1991, with the help of numerous donations from townspeople and the NT Medical Clinic, funds were raised and an army of volunteers providing labor, materials, supplies and cash had Pied Piper Preschool classes up and running by the first day of school in August 1991.

Over the years the preschool has been supported by large individual gifts and continued widespread public assistance. Many young families move to where they can find good community-based help in the rearing of children. Pied Piper Preschool is a wonderful example of our community and public response to this necessity.
