According to the 2010 census, our population is now 1703----and growing!

Located just Southeast of Traer, weighing in at 161 TONS and 268 feet tall, our latest edition is our very own wind turbine - the first commercial wind turbine in Tama County.  Drive to the site and see this giant.

Area residents had a great time filming "The Call", an independent movie filmed entirely in Traer.  This dramedy (drama + comedy) highlights Traer's wonderful features and businesses.  The movie premiered during the annual Holiday Happenings, the first weekend in December, at our own Traer Theater.  Help support our theater by purchasing your own copy of a DVD of "The Call", call 319-350-3185.

ABOUT TRAER'S GOVERNMENT

Traer has a mayor-council government in which the mayor serves as the president of the five-member council, though does not have a vote on council matters.  Each council member is the chairman of one and a member of other city committees, which include:  finance, streets, airport and garbage, recreation, and community protection.  The city employs an attorney, a treasurer, a clerk and a gas and building inspector.  Volunteers serve on the boards responsible for the library, the parks, the Memorial Building and planning & zoning.
